Director for Prosperity, Directorate-General Research and Innovation, European Commission Peter Dröll will retire at the end of April 2024.

Peter has been working in the European Commission for more than 20 years with positions in environment, enlargement negotiations, industry policy, innovation and research. He was a Cabinet member of Enlargement Commissioner Günter Verheugen and Head of Cabinet of the Science and Research Commissioner Janez Potočnik.

Vice-President of IZTECH Katarzyna Walczyk-Matuszyk will be a speaker during the EARMA 2024 conference, which takes place in Odense, Denmark on April 23-25, 2024. During the panel, on the second day of the event The concept of green management of R&I projects will be presented.

Technology Policy Forum

A very important event is behind us – the Technology Policy Forum, which took place on February 19 this year at the Warsaw Technology House NOT. The organizers were: the Polish Chamber of Commerce for High Technologies, the Federation of Scientific and Technical Associations NOT, the Conference of Rectors of Polish Technical Universities and the Council of Directors of Scientific Units of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

Ryszard Pregiel prof. nadzw. dr hab. inż, elektronik i matematyk, habilitacja w zakresie automatyki i robotyki (Politechnika Wrocławska, 1979). Odbył kilka długoterminowych staży naukowych i zawodowych za granicą m.in. w Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Wyższej Moskiewskiej Szkole Technicznej im. Baumana, Bell Telephone Laboratories (USA) i Control Data Corporation (USA). Jest autorem i współautorem podręczników akademickich, książek i licznych artykułów naukowych. Pracę naukowo-dydaktyczną rozpoczął (1961) w Politechnice Wrocławskiej. Następnie pracował w Uniwersytecie Śląskim, Uniwersytecie Ekonomicznym w Katowicach i Akademii WSB w Dąbrowie Górniczej, pełniąc szereg funkcji m.in. kierownika katedry informatyki, dziekana Wydziału Informatyki i prorektora ds. nauki.

W całym okresie swojej kariery zawodowej łączył działalność naukowo-dydaktyczną z pracą w przemyśle, m.in. pełnił funkcję dyrektora Instytutu Systemów Sterowania, naczelnego dyrektora Centrum Naukowo-Produkcyjnego Systemów Sterowania w

Katowicach, prezesa Zrzeszenia Przemysłu Automatyki i Aparatury Pomiarowej MERA w Warszawie, prezesa zarządu spółki Investel International i wiceprezesa Radomskiej Wytwórni Telekomunikacyjnej S.A. Jest autorem wielu rozwiązań konstrukcyjnych i projektów technologicznych. W latach 1985-1990 był podsekretarzem stanu w Komitecie Nauki i Postępu Technicznego odpowiedzialnym za gospodarkę Centralnym Funduszem Wspomagania Wdrożeń. Jest członkiem wielu komitetów, stowarzyszeń i redakcji naukowo-technicznych m.in. był przez dwie kadencje członkiem Komitetu Informatyki PAN, członkiem Komitetu Badań Kosmicznych PAN i prezesem Stowarzyszenia Inżynierów Telekomunikacji. Za swą działalność został odznaczony m.in. Krzyżem Oficerskim i Kawalerskim Orderu Odrodzenia Polski, Złotym Krzyżem Zasługi, Odznaką Zasłużony dla Województwa Śląskiego oraz wyróżniony szeregiem nagród, w tym międzynarodowych, i tytułem Honorowego Złotego Inżyniera.
